ABOUT ME

Jane Feuer Micallef, Career & Professional Leadership Coach

I bring 25 years of executive management experience to my coaching practice. In my career I have developed and implemented significant programs, managed large and complex budgets, and led multi-disciplinary teams through ever-changing fiscal, political and regulatory landscapes.  An attorney licensed to practice law in the State of California, I began my career as the executive director of a non-profit legal services agency. I later worked 19 years for the City of Berkeley, rising through the ranks and ultimately becoming a department director for one of the largest and most complex city departments. I understand what it takes both to lead from where you are in an organization and to excel and advance into positions of increased responsibility.

I am certified through the Co-Active Training Institute in San Rafael, California.  My perspective is that clients must actively collaborate in their own professional development, so my goal is to help my clients find their own answers, broaden their perspective, discover their authentic work or leadership style, and tap into their greatest strengths. Together we will explore how to leverage your gifts and stretch into areas that come less naturally in order to maximize your effectiveness.

I am also a certified Herrmann Brain Dominance Instrument (Whole Brain) practitioner. I use the Whole Brain model to assist individuals and teams to fully leverage their own thinking preferences, stretch into other styles when necessary, and understand the preferences of others to improve performance and results.

I was born and raised in New York and moved to Berkeley, California 35 years ago to attend law school at the University of California, Boalt Hall School of Law.  As a child of two social workers, I grew up in a family committed to social justice and community service and have brought this commitment to my professional and personal life. After graduating from law school, I traveled to Quito, Ecuador where I met my husband at a Spanish language school. We were married 10 weeks later and are celebrating our 30th anniversary this year! We enjoy a rich family life with two amazing adult daughters and many new adventures.  Away from work, I love vegetarian cooking and baking. My husband and I are avid hikers and urban gardeners, and my passion is to create beautiful food from the ingredients we harvest from our yard.

I included photos on this website from family trips to Ecuador, California, Oregon and Washington as well as others from my garden.
